Top Questions
Have questions about Sunsoil CBD products? We talk to people about CBD every day. Here are the most frequent questions we receive and some quick answers.
We started as Green Mountain CBD and changed our name to Sunsoil in early 2019. With this name change, you can expect the same exact product formulas, pricing, farming practices, extraction method, and people behind the company as you did under our former name. The recent change only impacted our name and logo. Transitioning to our new name and logo allows us to trademark Sunsoil as a brand, which helps to protect our product and customers.
In March of 2020, American Express placed CBD on its prohibited list, which prevents Sunsoil and other CBD companies from accepting American Express.
If you are trying to checkout with AMEX, or have an existing subscription linked to an AMEX card, you will need to use a different payment method.
We apologize for the inconvenience. Rules and regulations around CBD change frequently, so it is possible that American Express allows CBD again in the future.
We developed a simple infusion method to make CBD oil, using just hemp and organic coconut oil.
In contrast to popular methods such as CO2 or ethanol extraction, whole-plant infusion involves minimal processing of the plant. We steep dried hemp in coconut oil, heat it, and press it.
Infusion does the best job of capturing the full range of beneficial compounds found in the hemp plant. It's also naturally efficient, which means we can offer a better product at a lower price.
We don't just focus on making the best possible CBD oil, we do it as efficiently as possible.
Unlike most companies, we do everything ourselves: we breed our seeds, we farm our hemp, and we make CBD oil on-site. Owning the full process allows us to monitor quality and save cost at every step.
Our unique, whole-plant infusion method of making CBD oil is also critical. It allows us to make a naturally rich CBD oil for a fraction of the cost. Infusion is naturally cost-efficient relative to methods that other CBD oil producers use (such as CO2 extraction).
Finally, simplicity is key. We focus on making a few great products, and doing it efficiently. Our mission is to make high-quality CBD oil that is affordable and accessible. We currently price our products at a flat rate of 5 cents per milligram of CBD, and plan to continually bring our prices down over time.
We work very hard to offer our CBD oil at the price that we do, and we are looking into ways to help our customers save. One of our main missions is to continually bring our prices down, in order to continue making a high-quality CBD oil that is both affordable and accessible – as it should be. Our CBD products are priced at 5 cents per milligram – the lowest price in the country without sacrificing quality. We also work with our network of partners to occasionally offer discounts.
Domestic Flights
CBD products containing less than 0.3% THC by weight are permitted under the Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018. Since Sunsoil’s hemp-derived CBD products contain less than 0.3% THC, you can fly anywhere within the United States with our CBD oil, softgels, capsules or CBD Coconut Oil in your carry-on or checked luggage. If you’re only bringing a carry-on and are concerned about limiting your liquids, we would suggest traveling with our softgels and capsules as a convenient alternative to our liquid CBD Oil Drops.
International Flights
We do not advise people to travel internationally with our products unless they have consulted with the appropriate authorities.
Our Products
All of our products are full spectrum, whole plant extracts, and we extract using only organic coconut oil and coconut-derived MCT oil. Nothing is added or removed during our extraction process in order to preserve the wide range of cannabinoids and terpenes that naturally exist in our hemp plants.
Our flavored liquid CBD oils, such as our Chocolate Mint, Cinnamon and Citrus, contain natural flavors that are derived from plants. Our cinnamon oil is flavored with organic cinnamon oil of the ceylon variety from Madagascar. Our citrus oil is flavored with sweet orange oil. And our Chocolate Mint CBD oil is flavored with peppermint essential oil and aroma compounds derived from plants.
Our CBD oil capsules are not made with any animal products. They are vegan and vegetarian.
Our products do not contain gluten and are produced in allergen-free environments.
Sunsoil CBD oil capsules are made of HPMC. This is a semi-synthetic cellulose that has been the industry standard used in vegetarian capsules. Our CBD oil (product in capsules) is produced and manufactured on site at our Vermont farm using our organic hemp and organic coconut oil.
We suggest storing our CBD oil in a cool, dry place away from a heat source or direct sunlight. Each bottle of Sunsoil CBD has an expiration date on the bottle. Our products can be refrigerated if preferred, but it is not necessary.
Taking CBD
We are not medical professionals and advise those curious about CBD to talk to their medical professional or practioner about CBD.
We generally encourage our customers to start with a serving of 20mg of CBD, and to wait at least 4 to 6 hours before trying any more, making sure to pay attention to how you feel. The amount of CBD taken can be increased or decreased incrementally from there. Every person will respond differently to CBD, so it is important to find the right serving size for your needs.
When selecting a CBD product from Sunsoil, it’s helpful to decide how you intend to use it. For fast-acting results and to experiment with different flavors, our line of whole plant CBD oil drops is a great place to start. Our unflavored CBD drops can be used for cooking or giving to your pet. For efficiently taking CBD on the go, our softgels and capsules are a convenient option.
Our CBD oil is a whole plant, full spectrum extract that does contain trace amounts of THC – well below the established limits for any hemp products (a maximum of 0.3% by dry weight of any part of the plant). We are not authorities on drug testing, so we advise that people who are subject to screening should err on the side of caution.
Many variables can come into play regarding these tests, including but not limited to: individual metabolism, serving size/frequency of CBD oil, the test method used, and an individual’s exposure – be that first or second-hand, to the substances that are screened for. There is nothing illegal about consuming the trace amount of THC found in a hemp product, but employer-mandated testing will have its own rules that impacted employees must be careful to follow.
You do not need a medical card to purchase from us because our products are made from hemp and legal in all 50 states.
Our Unflavored CBD Oil is pet friendly. We advise against giving flavored CBD oils to pets, as the essential oils used for flavoring can be too strong for our four-legged friends. Talk to your vet about how to incorporate CBD oil into your pet's routine.
Yes. Hemp derived CBD products, such as Sunsoil CBD, are legal in the United States.

Our Process
LIPID INFUSION FOR EXTRACTION
We use lipid infusion because its simplicity preserves the purity and integrity of our plants. Lipids are naturally occurring molecules that form a group of compounds (fatty acids) and are insoluble in water. Common substances like coconut oil and olive oil are considered lipids. Lipid infusion is a straightforward, toxin-free process that uses heat and pressure to capture the full spectrum of our USDA certified organic hemp plants and their cannabinoids, terpenes and additional phytocompounds. Lipid infusion enables us to make high-quality, whole-plant hemp extract that is minimally processed and efficient – two qualities that help feed the core of Sunsoil’s mission.

We extract directly from the aerial parts of our hemp plants using organic coconut oil and coconut-derived MCT oil. We do not extract from the stems of our plants. Additionally, we make a whole plant, full spectrum extract – we do not isolate and reconstitute our cannabinoids.
Our hemp is USDA certified organic. We use organic farming practices and we do not use pest control products on our crops at any point. Our plants are rich in terpenes and cannabinoids that function as their own natural pest control.
No alcohol or any harsh solvents are ever used in out process and are not present in our products. We extract CBD from hemp using organic coconut oil, heat, pressure and time.
